MEXICO CITY, Aug. 14 (Korea Bizwire)  It was announced on Saturday that Samsung Electronics and the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes, Mexico’s Ministry of Communications and Transport, have shaken hands on a deal that will see the Korean company support the Puntos México Conectado (PMC) initiative carried out by the ministry.

The initiative is part of a push by the Mexican government to provide greater internet access to areas with limited technology by placing PMC centers in each of Mexico’s 32 federal entities.

According to the terms of the agreement, the ministry and Samsung will work together to provide education and training for virtual reality content creation and wearables app development.

Samsung has been laying the groundwork for the deal for over a year. Since last June, the technology giant has supplied over a thousand different gadgets and educational materials to Mexican authorities.

Samsung is looking to expand its partnership and is reportedly in discussions with the ministry on providing internet of things (IoT) app development education and training.
