SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it has opened the 16th center for its “Stepping Stone of Hope” outreach program in the country, completing a nationwide network aimed at supporting teenagers’ transition to independent living.

The company held an opening ceremony for the new center in Incheon, just west of Seoul, along with an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of the community outreach program to highlight its achievements and outline its vision for the next decade, according to Samsung Electronics.

Launched in 2015, the Stepping Stone of Hope initiative is designed to help young adults leaving child welfare facilities when they turn 18, providing stable housing and helping them build economic self-reliance through job training and employment readiness support.

Over the past decade, Samsung Electronics has opened 16 centers in 13 regions nationwide, assisting a total of 54,000 people.

“Self-reliance is achieved when the potential of young people is combined with practical support for housing, education and employment, along with strong backing from their community,” said Park Seung-hee, president and head of corporate relations at Samsung Electronics. “Stepping Stone of Hope has been creating this change.”
