SEOUL, Jan. 20  (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics has announced a strategic partnership with Nexon Korea and its subsidiary Neople to develop cutting-edge 3D gaming technology that doesn’t require special glasses, the company said on January 19.

The collaboration centers on optimizing Nexon’s upcoming game “First Berserker: Khazan” for Samsung’s Odyssey 3D gaming monitor. The partnership aims to better gaming immersion through sophisticated 3D effects tailored to the game’s characters, environments, and scenes.

A key focus of the development is minimizing the crosstalk effect — an issue that can cause dizziness when viewing 3D content — by precisely adjusting the focal distance between the viewer’s eye line and on-screen subjects during cinematic sequences.

“We plan to expand collaboration with various domestic and international game companies to deliver the highest level of immersion possible through 3D monitors,” said Kim Yong-jae, vice president of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business.

Choi Sung-wook, head of Nexon’s Publishing Live Division, expressed optimism about the partnership: “Through this agreement, gamers worldwide will be able to experience First Berserker: Khazan’s unique and sophisticated action and stunning graphics with even better immersion.”

“First Berserker: Khazan” is a hardcore action RPG based on Nexon’s popular “Dungeon & Fighter” intellectual property, featuring the character General Khazan. The game is scheduled for simultaneous domestic and international release on March 28.

Samsung’s Odyssey 3D gaming monitor will begin its global rollout starting with Korea in late March.
