SEOUL, Dec.9 (Korea Bizwire)Officials from ‘Samsung Pay’, the mobile payment system of Samsung Electronics, announced that they have added a transportation card service to Samsung Pay.

From December 8, users of Samsung Pay will be able to issue a mobile T-money card or Cash Bee card through their Samsung Pay application, and use the ‘cards’ on buses, subways and in taxis. If users have already issued a transportation card, they can import the information and use them through the app.

The features can be used through simple steps. Once the user issues a transportation card through their Samsung Pay application, by putting the card near the transportation card device, payments can be made instantly even if the Samsung Pay application is not running on the device.

Through a credit card that has transportation features or debit cards, transportation fees can be charged through prepaid options or paid with the credit card bill. Currently, mobile T-money can be charged through Samsung Card and KB Kookmin Card, and mobile Cash Bee can be charged through Lotte Card. Samsung Card plans to team up with other card companies that have transportation card features.

In the meantime, Samsung Pay announced their accumulated payments have reached 250 billion won, with over 10,000,000 different transactions processed.
