SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung SDS has been named the country’s top managed cloud service provider (MSP), securing a 23.9% market share, according to a report by global IT research firm IDC released on January 2.
The report highlights Samsung SDS’s dominance in efficiently managing enterprise cloud services, including infrastructure, security, and monitoring.
Samsung SDS also ranked second in South Korea’s public cloud service provider (CSP) market with an 11% share, the highest among domestic companies. Amazon Web Services (AWS) retained the top spot in this category.
Strengthening Market Leadership
IDC attributed Samsung SDS’s success to its robust cloud transition projects for clients in public, manufacturing, and financial sectors, particularly through its Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP). The company’s ability to seamlessly migrate systems to its cloud services has earned high customer satisfaction and solidified its leadership.
In 2024, Samsung SDS aggressively expanded its cloud business, achieving a 30% year-on-year revenue growth by the third quarter, totaling 1.72 trillion KRW. This follows the company’s recognition in the IDC MarketScape report in June 2024, where Samsung SDS was the only South Korean firm listed alongside global leaders like IBM, Dell, and KPMG as a “Major Player.”
Key Strengths and Vision
IDC praised Samsung SDS for its differentiated consulting, cloud transformation and deployment services, and SCP capabilities. It also highlighted the company’s strategic vision and workforce expertise as competitive advantages.
“With our extensive IT experience, we aim to serve as a strategic partner in driving business innovation and advancing the cloud and generative AI journeys of our clients,” said Lee Jung-heon, Head of Strategic Marketing at Samsung SDS.
The recognition underscores Samsung SDS’s growing influence in the global cloud landscape, with its focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions positioning it as a key player in the digital transformation era.
