BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — At Europe’s largest electronics fair, IFA 2025, Samsung Electronics unveiled a full-scale modular home outfitted with artificial intelligence technologies, underscoring its ambitions to shape the future of residential living.
Erected beside Samsung’s exhibition hall at CityCube Berlin, the 218-square-meter, two-bedroom house was built in partnership with Samsung C&T and transported from Korea to Berlin, where it was assembled in just one day.
Inside, Samsung demonstrated its new “Smart Modular Home Solution,” a suite of AI-driven systems designed to integrate security, energy efficiency, entertainment, and health into modular construction.
Each room highlighted a different concept: a front door that unlocks with a smartphone, AI-powered CCTV and smart locks, lighting and curtains that adjust automatically upon a resident’s arrival, and a storage area fitted with solar panels, energy storage systems, and ventilation units to create a “net-zero home.”
Appliances embedded in the structure can be activated immediately once registered by new occupants.
“About 7 percent of homes in Germany and up to 40 percent in Nordic countries are already modular,” said Park Chan-woo, vice president of Samsung’s B2B Solutions team.
“There is strong interest from builders and real estate developers, and Samsung is working with European energy firms to integrate production, storage, and usage of energy in modular housing.”
Samsung said it plans to commercialize its Smart Modular Home Solution globally, partnering with construction companies to expand the reach of AI-enabled modular living. “We want to make Samsung’s AI Home not a vision of the future, but a part of everyday life worldwide,” Park added.
The debut marks Samsung’s most prominent step yet into modular housing, a sector gaining traction in Europe as countries seek sustainable, scalable alternatives to traditional construction.
