SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co.’s SmartThings, a software platform that connects and controls devices, will enable the control of home appliances from major global brands worldwide simply through a single app.
Samsung Electronics announced on Wednesday that it will demonstrate the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) at IFA 2022 scheduled that kicks off this weekend in Berlin.
The HCA is an alliance founded in August 2021 to expand smart home ecosystems. A total of 13 global home appliance makers, including Samsung, LG Electronics Inc., General Electric Co. and Electrolux AB have joined the alliance.
Samsung plans to host a demonstration together with other HCA member companies and showcase the control of home appliances of different brands simply with a standardized HCA SmartThings application.
The HCA SmartThings application enables the control of home appliances of 13 HCA member companies through a single app. Other brands also can control Samsung devices through their own smartphone apps.
