SEOUL, July 15 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday that the number of devices registered in its SmartThings Find service that allows Galaxy device users to check the location of their devices or other personal belongings passed the 200 million mark.

SmartThings Find is a location-finding service using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies and functions even when devices are offline.

The service makes it easier for Galaxy product users to find devices such as smartphones, tablets, smartwatches or earbuds.

It also allows users to find the location of personal belongings such as keys and wallets that have a Galaxy SmartTag tracker attached.

If the lost device is outside of the phone’s range, other nearby Samsung Galaxy users who have opted into SmartThings Find can help find the location of the device.

It can also alert users that they have left their device behind. The location data to find the device is open not only to the user but also to others that gain permission in advance from the user.
