SEOUL, March 7 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung remains the most sought-after employer among South Korean university students, according to a recent survey conducted by HR tech firm Incruit. The survey, which polled 1,144 students nationwide from February 10 to March 3, found that 16.8% of respondents identified Samsung as their preferred workplace.
The primary reason cited for choosing Samsung was its competitive salary and benefits package, with 44.8% of respondents highlighting compensation as the key factor.
Trailing Samsung, CJ Group ranked second with 11.7% of the votes, with respondents pointing to its superior employee welfare programs (19.4%) as the main attraction. Hyundai Motor Group (10.9%) and SK Group (10.3%) followed closely, with students once again emphasizing salary and benefits as the deciding factors (51.2% and 54.2%, respectively).
Kakao secured the fifth spot (9.4%), with its reputation as an industry leader and strong community presence (18.5%) being the most compelling reason for preference. Rounding out the top ten were LG (5.2%), POSCO (5.1%), NongHyup (4.9%), Shinsegae (4.8%), and Celltrion (3.9%).
When asked about specific subsidiaries within their preferred conglomerates, Samsung Electronics emerged as the most desirable workplace within Samsung Group, garnering 58.9% of votes. CJ Olive Young (41.8%) led within CJ Group, while Hyundai Motor Company (78.4%), SK Hynix (62.7%), and Kakao Corp. (41.7%) topped the rankings within their respective groups.
The survey was based on the top 20 corporate groups designated by South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission in 2024. It carried a confidence level of 95% with a margin of error of ±2.77 percentage points.
