SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics announced the upcoming release of the Galaxy Book5 Pro, its latest AI-powered PC, set to launch in South Korea on January 2. The new laptop integrates Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI alongside Microsoft’s Copilot+, offering enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities for productivity and creativity.
The Galaxy Book5 Pro, unveiled at an event in Seoul, is available in two sizes—14-inch and 16-inch—and comes in gray and silver. This marks a significant expansion of Samsung’s AI PC lineup, following its initial foray earlier this year.
Advanced AI Features with Galaxy AI and Copilot+
The Galaxy AI platform introduces several innovative features, including AI Select, which allows users to search for text or images by simply drawing a circle or dragging on the touchscreen.
This tool facilitates tasks such as web browsing, shopping, and text translation without requiring manual input. It builds on Samsung’s proprietary technology, differentiating itself from the Google-powered “Circle to Search” available on Galaxy smartphones.
Other standout AI capabilities include Photo Remaster, which enhances image quality by restoring old photos or upgrading low-resolution images to high-definition.
Additionally, Copilot+, slated for rollout in 2024, will offer features like real-time captioning and an image-generation tool, “Co-Creator,” enabling streamlined creative workflows.
Samsung emphasizes a hybrid approach, combining cloud-based AI for features like AI Select with on-device AI for other tasks. Powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Processor Series 2 (codenamed “Lunar Lake”), the laptop’s AI engine boasts up to 47 TOPS (trillion operations per second), significantly enhancing its AI performance.
Seamless Ecosystem Integration
Designed to integrate seamlessly with Galaxy mobile devices, the Galaxy Book5 Pro supports Quick Share for effortless file transfers and Multi Control, enabling users to operate Galaxy smartphones and tablets using the laptop’s keyboard and mouse. Additional features like Second Screen transform Galaxy tablets into dual monitors.
Microsoft’s Phone Link further enhances cross-device functionality, allowing users to access Galaxy AI features, such as real-time translation, on their PC.
Cutting-Edge Hardware and Design
The Galaxy Book5 Pro features a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with touch functionality and Vision Booster technology for vibrant visuals. The camera incorporates Staggered HDR to produce high-quality images, while the battery offers up to 25 hours of use on a single charge.
AI PC Market Outlook
Samsung, in collaboration with Intel, is positioning the Galaxy Book5 Pro to capitalize on the rapidly growing AI PC market. According to market research firm IDC, AI PCs are projected to grow at an annual rate of 42%, comprising 60% of the global PC market by 2027. Samsung’s leadership in AI innovation aims to accelerate this transformation.
Intel Korea executive Baek Nam-gi highlighted the long-standing partnership between the two companies, noting their shared goal of leading the AI PC market. “AI PCs will achieve widespread adoption even faster than Wi-Fi-enabled laptops,” he predicted.
With its robust AI features and integrated ecosystem, the Galaxy Book5 Pro represents Samsung’s latest effort to stay ahead in the competitive PC market, keeping pace with tech giants like Apple while meeting evolving consumer demands for intelligent devices.
