SEOUL, Jul. 11 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics has introduced a significant redesign of its wireless earbuds lineup for the first time in five years.
The company unveiled the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3 at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event on July 10, marking a departure from the kidney bean shape to a new stem-like design reminiscent of bean sprouts.
The most notable feature of both models is the addition of a stem, a first since the Galaxy Buds series launched in 2019. This design change is seen as a move to improve sound quality and performance, potentially in response to competition from Apple’s AirPods.
Samsung has maintained variety in its offerings, with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro featuring an in-ear canal design, while the Galaxy Buds 3 opts for an open-ear design that hangs on the ear. The Pro model also includes a light on its stem for added functionality.
A key highlight of the new series is the real-time voice translation feature. When connected to a Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Galaxy Z Flip 6 and using the translation app’s “Listen” mode, users can receive real-time voice translations in their preferred language.
The feature supports 16 languages, including English, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, and Indonesian.
The earbuds also introduce a “Voice Command” function, allowing users to control music playback and answer calls through voice instructions without additional gestures.
Both models utilize AI to analyze internal and external sounds and the user’s wearing condition in real-time, optimizing sound quality and Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) functionality.
Call quality has been improved with machine learning models that can reconstruct the speaker’s voice in various noisy environments. The “Super Wideband Call” feature, available when connected to Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Flip 6, supports high-quality calls.
The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offer additional features such as “Noise Control Optimization,” “Conversation Detection,” and “Siren Detection.” These use AI to continuously analyze and automatically adjust ambient noise for an optimized listening experience.
The Galaxy Buds 3 series will be available in Silver and White colors. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are priced at 319,000 won, while the Galaxy Buds 3 are set at 219,000 won.
Early bird live broadcasts will begin at midnight on July 11 through Samsung.com and major open markets. Official pre-sales will run from July 12 to 18, available through online platforms like Samsung.com, Naver, Coupang, 11Street, and Gmarket, as well as offline stores such as Samsung Store and Himart.
