SEOUL, April 1 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung employees and the head of an LG Display subcontractor denied allegations that they illegally traded LG’s OLED technology behind its back.

Four executives and employers of Samsung Display and the head of the subcontractor were indicted last month on charges of exchanging information related to LG’s secret technology through emails. However, lawyers claimed that the four Samsung employees only received data in reference to a sales presentation given by the LG subcontractor.

The lawyer added that it was an official presentation, and therefore the technology in question could not be considered a trade secret. Any profits to Samsung Display with regards to the said technology did not occur, as Samsung decided not to purchase the technology after further examination.

Although Samsung and LG have agreed to drop any proceedings against each other, an official from the Suwon District Prosecutors Office said that its prosecutors, who are the plaintiffs in the case, have no plan to withdraw the arraignment.
