SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics on Friday introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea, a new addition to its foldable smartphone lineup that drew long lines of early adopters outside the company’s flagship stores.

Dozens of customers queued at about 20 retail locations nationwide, underscoring the high anticipation among Samsung loyalists for what is now the company’s thinnest foldable device. The Galaxy Z TriFold measures 12.9 millimeters when folded and just 3.9 millimeters fully opened — a form factor intended to make the tri-fold design feel less experimental and more everyday-ready.

The device features a 6.5-inch cover display, mirroring the proportions of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, and is designed to shift among smartphone, tablet and multi-panel modes depending on how it is unfolded. Samsung said the flexibility in orientation is meant to broaden the phone’s appeal beyond tech enthusiasts to users seeking a single device for work, entertainment and multitasking.

The company said it will offer a 50 percent discount on display repairs, though the handset is not included in Samsung Care Plus, its extended warranty program — an omission that drew immediate attention from would-be buyers on Friday.

Only one configuration is available: a 512-gigabyte model in black, priced at 3.59 million won, or about $2,430. Samsung said the TriFold will roll out next in China, Taiwan, Singapore and the United States, though it did not provide specific launch dates.

The debut comes as Samsung faces intensifying competition in the foldable category, a segment it once dominated but which has since attracted rivals across Asia. For now, however, early crowds suggested that the company’s most ambitious foldable design yet has succeeded in capturing public curiosity.
