SEOUL, Jun. 25 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean broadcaster SBS said Thursday it will co-produce the Chinese remake of its reality survival show “The Law of the Jungle” with a Chinese partner for broadcast in October.

First aired in 2011, “The Law of the Jungle” is a popular reality-documentary show on SBS in which a cast of celebrities travel to remote locations to survive on their own and experience life with local people.

SBS said it will co-produce the Chinese edition of the show with Anhui Television, one of the most influential local television stations in east China with the goal of airing the first episode on Oct. 3.

“We’ll put our best producers and staff on the Chinese version of ‘The Law of the Jungle,’ build an efficient production system, so it can serve as a new success model for content exchange between South Korea and China,” SBS said.

The broadcaster earlier co-produced the Chinese version of its hit entertainment show “Running Man” with China’s Zhejiang Satellite TV, which has been enjoying high viewer ratings in the country.

After surpassing 5 percent in rating on June 12, the Chinese remake recorded 5.016 percent on Friday, SBS said, adding that the show garnered an average of 200 million views per episode on the Internet.

A viewer rating of 1 percent is the standard for a successful television show in China with more than 2,000 broadcasting stations.
