SEJONG, July 21 (Korea Bizwire) — New technology that allows a self-driving car to park itself in a nearby parking space after passengers disembark will be developed in the administrative city of Sejong.
The city signed an agreement with the Korea National University of Transportation on Friday to test drive a new autonomous valet parking system next month.
The project aims to render the provided address in 3D, including spaces and objects, to apply a variety of cutting-edge technology including artificial intelligence (AI) and voice recognition.
The city aims to trial new technology that allows a self-driving car to park itself in a nearby parking space after passengers get out of the car in front of a parking lot.
It is different from older autonomous valet systems, which require cars to be driven all the way to the front of the parking space for autonomous parking.
