SEOUL, March 30 (Korea Bizwire) — With the new coronavirus outbreak continuing unabated, and social distancing measures prompting many to stay in, comfortable ‘home wear’ is gaining traction in the fashion market.
Online shopping mall Auction compared sales in the men’s and women’s fashion sectors from March 1 to 26 to the same period last year, and analyzed that sales of items related to “home wear” and the “newtro” fad increased significantly.
As for women’s fashion, sales of leggings more than doubled compared to last year, in the height of home training fever.
Comfortable clothes, including training pants, cardigans and loose-fit T-shirts saw sales surge year on year with 103 percent, 50 percent and 82 percent increases, respectively.
Meanwhile, men also preferred comfortable clothes such as training suits, casual pants and short-sleeved T-shirts. Each saw a significant increase in sales at 100 percent, 35 percent and 47 percent, respectively.
