SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Self-driving robots will start patrolling Children’s Grand Park and the Songpa Trail in Seoul from Monday, the city government said.
The robots with a height of about 108 centimeters will patrol for the prevention of crimes and disease control throughout the park.
While patrolling the park and the Songpa Trail, the four-wheeled robot will use a camera to monitor the surrounding environment while avoiding collisions with people or other objects.
The robot is mounted with four cameras for a 360-degree view. It also has a thermographic camera to recognize heat even in a dark environment.
The robot analyzes the images it takes in real-time using its own artificial intelligence (AI), but in case of emergency situations such as fire or when it hears screaming, it sends the data to a control center using Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
