SEONGNAM, Sept. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – The very first Seongnam Moran Festival kicked off on Friday, which will be held for almost a month to boost the local economy of Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province.
The event officially began at a public parking lot where the Moran market will be relocated. Performances of traditional Korean music including nongak, pansori, and other folk songs sung by guest singers were provided for visitors.
Beginning from September, 29th, the first Seongnam Moran Festival will be held at a number of venues, including Moran Animal Market until October, 31st, in collaboration with Korea Sale Festa, which is a discount promotion program designed to boost the tourism industry.
In addition, a dozen Hongdae-based indie bands will be busking on the street to entertain visitors during the festival season.
With over 700 new shops welcoming visitors to over 22,5575 square meters of land, up to 100,000 people are expected to visit on the busiest day.
One Seongnam City official says the festival was devised with the intention of revamping the market as a tourist spot for both domestic and international visitors.
