SEOUL, May 9 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul city government has signed a friendship city agreement with the Abu Dhabi government of the United Arab Emirates to expand city-level cooperation in areas like transportation and smart city and urban development, officials said Thursday.
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon inked the agreement with Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, the chairman of the Abu Dhabi government’s Department of Municipalities and Transport, the previous day (UAE time) as part of the mayor’s ongoing visit to the Arab country.
The latest friendship city deal marks Seoul’s fourth such arrangement reached with a country in the Middle East and the first with a UAE city.
It was pursued at the recommendation of Abu Dhabi’s municipalities department.
Seoul expects the agreement to facilitate cooperation with the UAE capital in transportation and smart city and urban development, as well as other sectors, and contribute to the mutual development of the two cities.
Oh is currently on a seven-day trip to the UAE to attend global forums and engage in city promotion activities.
