SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Cell phones will be banned from use on construction projects commissioned by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The city government announced Thursday that it has implemented a new policy on mobile phone use by construction workers as part of its efforts to prevent accidents.
The policy was inspired by Samsung Electronics Co’s new ban on cell phone use while walking.
Now, workers on the 72 city government construction projects will be banned from using cell phones at work.
In principle, other field staff at 147 facilities in the city, including Seoul Grand Park and Seoul Botanic Park, will also be banned from using mobile phones.
“Cellphone alerts may threaten lions and other predators while they are being fed the cages are being cleaned, raising the risk of assault,” an official at the city government said.
