SEOUL, South Korea, Oct 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Representatives of major cities in Northeast Asia will meet in Seoul to discuss the issue of fine dust particles in the atmosphere and how to reduce them. The Seoul Metropolitan City Government said that it would host the 2013 Northeast Asia Air Quality Seminar on October 17 at the Seoul Museum of History in downtown Seoul.

This year’s conference will focus on fine dust particles and discuss ways to cooperate in this matter. In particular, ultra-fine dust particles that have become more prevalent in the area will be the hot topic for discussion among scientists and policy makers.

The seminar will be held in three different sessions with more than 300 scientists, government experts, environmental advocacy group leaders, and researchers. Professor Paik Seong-ok, chairman of the Korean Association of Atmospheric Environmental Science, will make the keynote speech and the deputy mayor of Ulaanbaatar will make the presentation on his city’s air quality.
