SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on September 5 that it has selected three commercial areas frequented by the elderly for minor renovations.
The three areas are Dongjak District’s Seongdae Market and Eunpyeong District’s New Eungam Market and Songhae Street.
The 118 establishments within these districts will adopt measures like enlarging the size of the letters on menus and installing holders or shelves for walking canes and reading glasses.
A total of 26 local elderly residents have agreed to participate in a survey on the difficulties they face when accessing the various establishments.
Seoul plans to have an additional seven areas that have implemented these measures by next year as part of its goal to revitalize the selected communities.
