SEOUL, Mar. 10 (Korea Bizwire) –The Seoul Metropolitan Government is set to embark on a pioneering pilot project to support its employees’ use of paid generative AI services, marking a proactive step towards integrating AI into their workflows.
This initiative aims to break away from the traditionally closed and slow-to-change public service culture by embracing the technological advancements exemplified by the emergence of platforms like ChatGPT.
Starting from March 13 to 15, the city government will open applications through its internal administrative portal, targeting employees at its headquarters.
The project plans to select 75 participants through a lottery, offering them a three-month subscription to ‘GPT-4,’ the latest iteration in OpenAI’s ChatGPT series, renowned for its versatile applications across translation, summarization, image creation, data analysis, coding, and document drafting.
Seoul’s administration intends to collect case studies from the participants, applying GPT-4 in their day-to-day tasks to evaluate the outcomes and develop best practices for AI utilization in public service.
The move comes as AI technology not only advances but as society moves towards coexistence with AI, necessitating a conducive environment for its practical application in work settings.
The initiative reflects the city’s anticipation of AI’s potential to not only enhance work efficiency but also to address social issues and improve public services across all municipal departments.
Concerns regarding the potential risks of sensitive information leaks through generative AI usage are being addressed by the city through improved security training for employees and strict adherence to security protocols, including obtaining user consent for ChatGPT usage.
Furthermore, to maximize the benefits of AI, Seoul is planning to implement practical, level-specific training for its employees and establish a ‘Prompt Bank’ to facilitate optimal AI utilization.
This resource will include a collection of optimal prompts (commands) necessary for various tasks, supported by study groups and a compilation of job-related prompt examples, ensuring that the city’s workforce is well-equipped to harness the power of AI effectively.
