SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Seoul Lantern Festival that has drawn a record number of visitors — about 2.5 million spectators every year since the year 2009, has established itself as one of Seoul’s major festivities.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government intends to promote the lantern festival as a special culture and tour occasion in November that will show off the unique and beautiful lights of Seoul, supported by Seoul Lantern Festival Joint Promotion Committee.
The committee plans to invite more light manufacturers, design firms, and stores located in Cheonggyecheon (the festival venue). And the city of Seoul will also sponsor the occasion together with the Korea’s Cultural Heritage Administration and the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.
“At the event, we try to illuminate the world with traditional and modern lights blending the tradition and modernity of Seoul in much creative and harmonious ways,” said Chairman Jang Byung-hak of the organizing committee, “and we will set the festival days in every November”
