SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — In a first for local governments in South Korea, Seoul has launched the ‘Seoul Data Hub,’ an AI-powered public data platform that allows users to access city data using natural language queries.
The service, which integrates generative AI technology, enables both experts and ordinary citizens to conveniently obtain information.
Users can ask questions in everyday language, such as “Show me parking lots in Yeouido’s Hangang Park” or “What’s the current price of apples at traditional markets?” The AI chatbot then provides conversational responses with relevant data.
Following a pilot phase launched in November 2024, the platform has already seen 67,300 cumulative queries and 13,800 active users as of January 20, 2025.
“We hope that by making data more accessible, citizens can use it to improve both their work and daily lives,” said Kang Ok-hyun, Director of Seoul’s Digital City Bureau.
With this initiative, Seoul aims to set a new standard for AI-integrated public services, enhancing data accessibility and usability for residents and businesses alike.
