SEOUL, June 21 (Korea Bizwire)Seoul Metro, the operator of the subway service in Seoul, said Tuesday it will develop a real-time monitoring system that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology to assess the congestion levels of subway stations.

The project will involve employing AI to analyze the CCTV data organized by congestion levels.

In real-time, the system will monitor the CCTV footage, comparing it with data from the train’s weight sensors and beacons to enhance accuracy.

Seoul Metro also intends to share real-time congestion data with users and employees.

It will conduct a study on congestion in trains and subway stations, taking into account factors such as the station’s structure and the surrounding areas.

Furthermore, Seoul Metro will analyze the impact of subway passengers on congestion in subway stations and trains, and adjust train operations accordingly based on the congestion level.
