SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Metro is offering the public a glimpse of the subway of tomorrow, unveiling an exhibition that blends artificial intelligence and accessibility-focused technology at Smart Life Week 2025, running through Oct. 2 at COEX.
The showcase, designed under the theme “AI Station,” immerses visitors in a subway-like environment equipped with real safety doors and interactive features. Exhibits highlight three areas: inclusive AI for passengers with disabilities, the subway of the future, and entertainment-centered “Fun Station.”
Key technologies on display include a smart ticket kiosk tailored for mobility-challenged riders, a “hearing loop” system to help hearing-impaired passengers better catch announcements, and an AI-powered elevator auto-call function for wheelchair users.
Seoul Metro is also presenting next-generation operations tools, such as a real-time congestion management system that uses AI to monitor and analyze crowding, and a “smart station” platform for remote monitoring and control of facilities. Additional attractions include XR-based vehicle maintenance demonstrations and a subway driving simulator.
To engage the public, the “Fun Station” features interactive zones, including an eco-station promoting sustainability and an MBTI-inspired quiz recommending subway stations that match visitors’ personality traits.
“This exhibition shows how AI and advanced technologies will make Seoul’s subways safer, smarter, and more inclusive,” said Na In-ho, a spokesperson for Seoul Metro. “We will continue to apply innovative solutions to improve accessibility and passenger experience.”
