SEOUL, April 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday that it had opened up a new AR Museum comprised of various artifacts and artworks owned by popular museums and galleries virtually rendered through augmented reality (AR) technology.
Some nine private museums and galleries in Seoul are participating in the project to produce the AR content.
Based on the requests from each museum, the city government turned lead artifacts into AR content, setting up 3D virtual galleries and AR kiosks.
Now, users can access a wide variety of museum artifacts and artworks through mobile devices anywhere at any time, the city government said.
The AR kiosk, set up with advanced technology, allows users to try out a variety of AR content remotely, access commentary and enjoy experiential programs.
