Seoul, July 16 (Korea Bizwire)–A branch of the Grevin Museum, specializing in the exhibition ofwax dolls, will open in Euljiro, Seoul on July 29. It will be the first branch of the famous Parisian museum to open in Asia.
Established in 1882, the Grevin Museum in France is a museum exhibiting wax dolls. Foreign branches have also been opened in Montreal, Canada, and Prague, Czech Republic. The museum in Seoul is the fourth in the world, and first in Asia.
The museum will exhibit a total of 76 wax dolls including celebrities such as John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Cruise and George Clooney, as well as Korean stars and historical figures like Psy, G-Dragon, Kim Yuna, King Sejong and admiral Yi Sun-sin.
The opening ceremony will be held on July 29, with Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon andthe head of CDA, Dominique Marcel, in attendance, as well asHallyu stars who arefeatured in the museum.CDA is the company that operatesthe Grevin Museum.
The city of Seoul and the museum have invitedPsy, actors Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young, Jeon Do-yeon, and sports stars Kim Yuna and Park Chan-ho to attend the opening ceremony. If they make an appearance, the ceremony will literally be a festival of the stars.
In addition, Seoul is anticipating that the participation of Hallyu stars will attract the attention of foreign visitors at a time when tourism in Korea is struggling due to the outbreak of MERS(Middle East respiratory syndrome).
The museum will be open from 9:30am to 7pm. Entrance fees are 23,000 won for adults, 18,000 won for teenagers and 15,000 won for children.
The biggest difference between the Grevin museum in Seoul and other locations is that the Hallyu theme is emphasized. Visitors can take pictures with the wax dolls, participate in roulette games, and use a morphing feature in which individuals can Photoshop faces of celebrities into their own.
