SEOUL, April 12 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea launched a tour program that offers a hands-on experience of Korean traditional culture tailored for Chinese travelers visiting Seoul, the state-run Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said Tuesday.

The travel package includes a pedicab ride to the traditional village, local market tour and a Korean cooking class as well as accommodation in a traditional house, called hanok.

The KTO said a group of Chinese travelers from the northeastern city of Dalian will take part in the program starting Tuesday, noting it will expand the traditional village tour program to other groups of foreign visitors.

Bukchon hanok village in downtown Seoul, formerly inhabited by the ruling class of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), is now home to Seoulites as well as trendy shops and art exhibits.

It is located near Gyeongbok Palace, the royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, and also adjacent to the presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae.
