SEOUL, May 30 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul city government opened its first career support café in a bustling university neighborhood on Monday with young adults scrambling to secure favorable employment in a continuously tough job market.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it equipped the café, located near Hongik University in western Seoul, with seminar rooms, books, and media boards that provide a wide range of information for those seeking employment. It also plans to hold regular mentoring and lecture sessions.
“The new café is just like any other café, except for the fact that it has the information job-seekers need,” said Choi Seon-hye, a city official. “Visitors can come for just a cup of tea. Or, they can come and receive job search counseling.”
The city government said it aims to increase the number of career support cafés up to 50 across the city by the end of this year, and then up to 300 by the year 2020.
