The opening hours for the rink are from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. between Sunday and Thursday, while the opening hours extend to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and national holidays.

On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, the skating rink will stay open until half past midnight in celebration of the holiday season.

The entrance fee is 1,000 won, while foreign nationals with a Discover Seoul Pass can enjoy the rink free of charge.

Thanks to the convenient location and the affordable entrance fee, more than 2.34 million people have enjoyed skating at Seoul Plaza since 2004, with an annual average of 195,000.

The skating rink didn’t open last year, however, as downtown Seoul played host to massive protests against now-ousted President Park Geun-hye over a collusion scandal.

In celebration of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, a number of events are scheduled to be held at the rink, including a curling experience zone and a figure skating performance by a group of up and coming skaters on December 22.
