SEOUL, April 13 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Metropolitan Government officials are looking for citizens and companies who have contributed to gender equality as part of the 2018 Seoul Gender Equality Awards.
The city government said on Friday it is seeking candidates until May 15for its gender equality awards, which will be given to both women and men for their contributions to promoting gender equality in South Korean society.
The awards have been renamed as the ‘Gender Equality Awards’, ditching the previous name ‘Women Awards’ in a nod to acknowledge the role of men in the pursuit of gender equality and be more accepting of male candidates.
The gender equality awards consist of three categories including the fulfillment of gender equality award, which goes to citizens and groups that helped spread gender equality in society, the expansion of female social participation award, which goes to those who helped women participate in society, and lastly, the women’s rights and safety improvement award for those who helped victims of sexual violence.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is set to choose a total of six candidates and award them during the 2018 Gender Equality Week ending July 7.
