SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Western Parks and Recreation Center announced on January 3 that it will display a family of large reed dragon sculptures at World Cup Park until February 18 in celebration of the Year of the Dragon.
This marks the sixth year that World Cup Park has planned and exhibited large reed sculptures representing the animal of the new year.
The reed dragon family, completed with citizen participation, can be found at the UNICEF Plaza in Peace Park. The dragon family consists of a father dragon (4.5 meters high and 8 meters long), a mother dragon (4 meters high and 6 meters long), and a baby dragon (2 meters high and 5.5 meters long), constructed using approximately 8 tons of reeds.
Notably, the baby dragon was created by 20 children born in the Year of the Dragon, using a traditional thatching technique.
In addition to the sculptures, a variety of programs will be offered at World Cup Park to celebrate the new year, including ‘Writing New Year Wishes for 2024′, ‘World Cup Reed Pipe Challenge’, and ‘Curious Journey of Forest Friends’.
