SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s subway lines are gaining popularity as a filming location for movies and TV dramas.
Seoul Metro, the city-run operator of the subway system in the capital, said that the subway was used as a filming location 216 times last year, up from 66 times in 2020 and 86 times in 2021.
The subway appeared on the popular legal drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” as the main character’s primary mode of commute.
The Sports Complex station on Line 2 was used as one of the filming locations for “Reborn Rich,” the last year’s most-watched drama in South Korea.
The so-called ghost platform in Sinseol-dong station on Line 2 and the empty space in the Yeongdeungpo Market station on Line 5 have also been popular filming locations for a number of dystopian movies and dramas due to their unique features where the concrete is fully exposed, Seoul Metro said.
The two locations were abandoned after the cancellation of subway construction plans.
Sindap station on Line 2 is located next to a garden with trees and flowers, a popular filming location for capturing romantic scenes.
