SEOUL, Jul. 16 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will, for the first time, open the first daycare center in Seoul this year that has greatly increased natural experience and play activities for the children.

The city government said Monday that it will start with 20 “eco-friendly daycare centers” this year and operate a total of 125 facilities by 2022.

Currently, daycare centers operate around learning and classes according to a set schedule.

However, the current daycare center education system has been met with criticism that it lacks play time for the children.

The new eco-friendly daycare centers, which will be showcased by the SMG, will operate various childcare programs centered on nature and play without limiting time and space.

The new education program is not a scheduled time for outside activities, but also allows the child to lead the play on his or her own to enjoy various new experiences.

To that end, the SMG plans to create a garden or indoor or outdoor playground inside or near daycare centers.

Furthermore, it also plans to use the city’s related facilities such as the Infant Forest Experience Center, the Sun Playground and the Citizens’ Natural Learning Center.
