Seoul to Install 1,000 Electric Bike Charging Stations Using Public Phone Booths

SEOUL, June 22 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Tuesday it would install 1,000 electric bike charging stations using public phone booths by 2025.

The e-bike charging stations will be battery exchange-type charging stations that allow users to replace discharged batteries with fully charged ones.

It is expected to take less than one minute for users to complete the usage process ranging from user certification to battery exchange.

The city government plans to install 150 e-bike charging stations first in Gangnam and other districts clustered with single-person households in which delivery demand is high.

It also plans to replace 35,000 motorbikes, an amount equivalent to 100 percent of full-time delivery motorbikes, with e-bikes by 2025 as part of efforts to reduce air pollution.
