SEOUL, Mar. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced plans on March 13 to introduce the newly revamped city mascot, Hechi, through a series of surprise events at various iconic locations around the city, including Namsan, Gwanghwamun, Seongsu, and Hongdae.
Starting March 14, the city will kick off the festivities by displaying a Hechi art balloon at “Hello, Insadong,” a cultural complex in Insadong. The unique Hechi art installations will also grace Seongsu’s café street and Yeouido’s Hangang Park, known for their beautiful cherry blossoms.
Attendees at these events will have the opportunity to interact with Hechi mascot performers, who will be making unexpected appearances to share high-fives and pose for memorable photos with the public.
A city official mentioned that hints about Hechi’s next appearances will be periodically shared on Hechi’s Instagram account (@hechi.soul.friends), adding an element of surprise to the mascot’s whimsical charm.
In addition to these locations, the Gocheok Sky Dome, host to the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Tour Seoul Series from March 17 to 21, will feature a Hechi art balloon and a special Hechi & Soul Friends photo wall.
Last month, the city unveiled the redesigned Hechi, modernizing the traditional colors of Dancheong (traditional Korean decorative coloring on wooden buildings) to breathe new life into the symbol of Seoul.
