SEOUL, Jun. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government has put a call out for “citizen poets” to help provide subway users with poetry to read as they wait for their trains.
The city announced on Wednesday that it was inviting the public to submit their own creations as well as their favorite poetry. A total of 150 original works of poetry and 50 popular poems will be chosen for review between June 27 and July 11. Anyone can enter the contest by applying online at www.mediahubseoul.go.kr or www.subwaypoem.co.kr.
A panel of judges that includes literary critics and academics will select poems to be displayed throughout 299 subway stations and all metropolitan subway lines starting in October. The winners of the contest will be announced on the contest’s website in late August.
