SEOUL, April 21 (Korea Bizwire)The Songpa District Office in Seoul said Wednesday it will increase the number of beneficiaries eligible to receive a “Smart Insole,” a location-tracking device for those with developmental disabilities, from the current 32 to 82.

The Smart Insole is a shoe insert mounted with Internet of Things (IoT) technology and GPS, enabling guardians to check the location of those with developmental disabilities through an application.

When those with developmental disabilities move out of designated areas, the Smart Insole sends an alert to guardians.

Starting from this year, the district office added wrist watch-type location trackers, allowing users to choose based on their needs.

The wrist watch-type model provides health information on heart rate and step counts. In addition, its fall-sensing and emergency call functions allow users to request rescue in emergency situations.
