SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – The 2024 Yangje Flower Festa opened today at the aT Center in Seoul’s Yangje-dong district, bringing a burst of late autumn color to the urban landscape during its three-day run starting November 15.

The festival, centered at Yangje Flower Market, Korea’s largest and most prestigious flower market, aims to integrate flowers into daily life beyond their traditional role at ceremonial occasions.

“It’s unfortunate that flowers have been limited mostly to special occasions. We want to make flowers a part of everyday life,” explained a festival organizer. “A nation that loves and enjoys flowers is a nation with hope.”

A highlight of the festival is the special mugunghwa (Korean rose of Sharon) zone, showcasing Korea’s national flower. “The mugunghwa, mentioned in our national anthem’s fourth verse, is the flower of all flowers, yet we’ve neglected it,” noted a festival representative.

“This display is part of our campaign to cultivate greater appreciation for our national flower and, by extension, our national identity.”

Under the theme “Everyday Flowers, Daily Flower Party,” the festival offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in floral beauty. The event features award-winning entries from the everyday flower competition and professional florist exhibitions.

Visitors can capture memories against seasonal flower backdrops and participate in hands-on activities such as making flower bracelets, floral crowns, and terrariums.

Yangje Flower Market, which hosts the festival, serves as both a wholesale and retail hub, bringing together a diverse array of flowers from across South Korea.
