SEOUL, July 1 (Korea Bizwire) – Seoul Metropolitan Government revealed on July 1 an updated ‘Online Tree Sharing’ website where citizens can donate or adopt a tree.
The ‘Online Tree Sharing’ website (env.seoul.go.kr/tree-sharing) supports tree sharing among citizens who own trees at an individual house or a multiplex building but can no longer provide care for their plants due to construction or development work.
Anyone who wishes to donate should register his or her tree on the ‘Donate a Tree’ page. Those who want to adopt can choose from a list of registered trees.
Of note, a new page titled ‘Looking for a Tree’ was added as part of the update. Individuals who want to adopt a tree that has not been registered by donors can post a request, and anyone who owns a specific tree can comment.
For privacy protection, donor and adoptee personal information is not provided on the website.
Trees donated by apartment complexes will be delivered to adoptees with consent from the donor without conducting a site inspection. However, for a multiplex building, a public official has to make a visit within 10 days of the adoption request in order to get consent and oversee the process.
Making a donation is free, but any costs required for transferring adopted trees must be paid by the adopter.
If a donated tree is not adopted within a certain period of time, the city will accept applications from other cities and provinces for donation within 30 days of the adoption deadline date.
