BUSAN, Feb. 13 (Korea Bizwire) – Shinsegae Centum City has announced a gradual expansion of its vegan cosmetics line, signaling a shift towards more environmentally friendly and ethical consumer choices.

The department store recently inaugurated an Hourglass store on February 1, adding to its growing list of eco-friendly and vegan brands such as Dear Dahlia, Urban Decay, and Dear Klairs, totaling over ten brands.

Moreover, the Belif brand, located on the first floor of the department store, has launched its new Problem Solution line as vegan products this year. Lush, an eco-friendly cosmetics brand situated on the third floor, has also received vegan certification for its hair treatment product H’Suan Wen Hua by removing egg ingredients.

According to the Korea Vegan Certification Authority, the domestic vegan cosmetics market has experienced substantial growth, expanding more than fourfold from 160 billion won in 2013 to 570 billion won in 2022. It is projected to approach 1 trillion won by 2025.

In response to this trend, Shinsegae Centum City plans to actively pursue the introduction of a Green Beauty Zone within its beauty boutique, Chicor, dedicated exclusively to vegan cosmetics.

Kwon Tae-woo, head of Shinsegae Centum City’s Overseas Goods Team, stated, “As consumer awareness towards value-based and ethical consumption strengthens, we are seeing an increase in demand for vegan cosmetics. We are committed to meeting this demand by expanding our vegan cosmetics offerings.”
