SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Shinsegae DF Inc., the duty-free arm of South Korean retail giant Shinsegae, plans to hold a campaign to raise public awareness about environmental pollution caused by plastic waste and the importance of upcycling.
Upcycling refers to the act of creating new products using recycled materials, refined with new design and function.
Shinsegae DF, jointly with Touch4Good, a social enterprise specializing in upcycling, collected old prepaid cards to reuse them as name tags for baggage, packaging them in recycled kraft boxes.
The name tags will be given out to 4,000 customers who spend more than US$50 at Shinsegae DF on a first-come, first-served basis.
