SEOUL, June 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Shinsegae Group’s integrated online shopping mall, SSG.com, announced Tuesday the launch of H.M SON, a new brand named after top Korean soccer star Son Heung-min.
The brand title H.M SON was taken directly from the Tottenham striker’s English initials, and the brand’s logo was inspired by the pentagons on soccer balls. The logo also represents the five continents.
H.M SON released three designs of snapbacks – model 7STOHM – for which Son participated in the designing process. It will gradually present other fashion items, including baseball hats that will be released at the end of June.
Son has been known for his interest in fashion, and SSG.com explained that he wished to share his fashion values with his fans, which ultimately led to the formation of H.M SON.
To celebrate the brand’s launch, SSG.com is offering a 10 percent discount on the new snapbacks until June 19, and the 7th, 77th, and 777th customers for each of the three designs will receive a soccer ball, a uniform, and a hat signed by the player.
Such brands endorsed by sports stars have become more commonplace in the fashion industry.
In 2013, another world-class soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo, also co-designed a range of underwear and a sock line with a New York fashion designer Richard Chai.
