SEOUL, July 6 (Korea Bizwire)With the opening of its first official shopping channel in South Korea, YouTube has paved the way for direct-to-consumer (D2C) shopping malls to launch live shopping programs.

Aqo Studio initiated a live shopping program on YouTube’s shopping channel on July 1, accumulating over 350,000 views.

Gaze Shop also joined the trend by starting a live commerce program on a YouTube shopping channel on Monday, successfully selling audio devices, watches, and drones with 370,000 views and robust sales.

As more shopping malls are anticipated to embrace live commerce on YouTube, shares in Cafe24 Corp., the sole service provider connecting D2C shopping malls and YouTube in South Korea since December last year, are on the rise.
