Short Jacket and Boot Sales Rise Ahead of Winter Season

SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Korea Bizwire)As South Korea enters its first end-of-year season without any social distancing rules in three years, a growing number of consumers are looking for short jackets and long boots to stay warm this winter.

Online shopping mall Gmarket analyzed the increase in winter apparel sales from Oct. 12-Nov. 13 which went up from last year.

Women’s apparel sales jumped by 78 percent, in which half coats (43 percent) gained exceptional popularity.

Shearling jackets and fur vests, worn both for fashion and to stay warm, saw sales increase by 75 percent and 45 percent, respectively.

Sales of women’s boots, which go well with jackets, jumped by a whopping 96 percent in sales, almost doubling.

By item, booties (345 percent), long boots (86 percent), and ankle boots (75 percent) saw their sales increase significantly.

Men’s apparel sales also jumped by 95 percent, with sales of wool jackets and knitted turtleneck sweaters (177 percent) up significantly. Sales of men’s boots were also up by 79 percent.
