Sistar Ranks No. 1 on Major Music Charts in Korea with “Shake It”

SEOUL, June 29 (Korea Bizwire)K-pop girl group Sistar ranked No. 1 on major local music charts for the eighth consecutive day Monday with its new single “Shake It.”

Released a week ago, “Shake It” has since been on top of the real-time K-pop chart of Melon, an online music service that dominates 60 percent of the market.

As of 9 a.m., the song topped four other charts: Olleh Music, Naver Music, Bugs and Genie.

The song’s music video has also become a sensation in overseas markets.

The video garnered more than 3 million YouTube views and surpassed 9.17 million views in total on China’s online video-sharing services, such as Youku, Yinyuetai and Tudou on Sunday.

On Saturday, a cover dance video of girls wearing the same skirt and wide-brimmed hat and dancing to the tune of “Shake It” was uploaded on the mobile app Moncast and became the talk of the town on social networking services. The song’s easy dance moves are expected to prompt many other cover dance videos.

Debuting in 2010, Sistar has topped local music charts with each of their new songs, except their first single “Push Push” over the past five years.

The group’s other hit songs include “Shady Girl” (2010), “How Dare You” (2010), “So Cool” (2011), “Alone” (2012), “Loving You” (2012), “Give It To Me” (2013), “Touch My Body” (2014) and “I Swear” (2014).
