SEOUL, Jul. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Energy Co. a wholly owned subsidiary of the country’s leading oil refiner SK Innovation Co., announced on Thursday that it will begin a new project to supply eco-friendly energy at its gas stations and My Truck House, a service station for cargo trucks.
For the new project, SK Energy will install solar panels and charging stations at its gas stations and My Truck Houses.
The new project is part of SK Innovation’s Green Balance 2030 Strategy, which aims to resolve various environmental threats by 2030 by generating social value in the environmental sector.
SK Energy will first install solar panels on the roofs of 15 gas stations and begin operations in October.
Compared with power generation using liquefied natural gas, the 15 gas stations and the electric power station at Busan New Port will be able to cut 820 tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year.
SK Energy has also been testing an electric vehicle (EV) charging service at its gas station in Yangpyeong-dong, Seoul since last April.
By this month, the company will complete the installation of EV chargers at 11 gas stations throughout the country and begin operations next month.
