SEOUL, March 18 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Gas Co., the largest local importer and distributor of liquefied petroleum gas, said Tuesday that it will launch a local artificial intelligence (AI)-based energy efficiency service project in a strategic partnership with a French AI solution company.
The service, which will be launched with Metron SAS, a startup specializing in energy data analysis solutions in France, serves to analyze the vast amount of data generated and accumulated at each establishment.
Based on data, it will develop an AI model and find optimal solutions to reduce energy consumption.
Existing factory energy management systems (FEMS) only show the current state of energy use at establishments or analyze usage patterns with pre-set analysis models.
However, SK Gas explained that the new service frequently offers optimal control points.
“The biggest advantage of the new solution is that it comes in the form of software, so the initial deployment costs are very low and can be applied in a short period of time,” a company source said.
SK Gas has been carrying out pilot project of a Metron solution for South Korean businesses since 2018 and verified its applicability.
Starting with the service, the company plans to discover various energy solutions and develop them into a comprehensive energy service platform unique to SK Gas by commercializing them.
Meanwhile, Metron currently has branches in seven countries and provides energy efficiency services to more than 100 factories in 22 countries. The service has resulted in a 5 to 10 percent reduction in energy costs, according to the company.
